Tuba City Unified School District ParentSquare

The Tuba City Unified School District (TCUSD) is launching a new district-wide communication platform.

ParentSquare will replace OneCallNow as its new communication platform.

We are excited to announce that we adopted a new form of school-to-home communication at the Tuba City Unified School District called ParentSquare. This unified communications platform is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with TCUSD. It provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff, and parents to send and receive school and class information.

What Is ParentSquare and how will it benefit parents?

L
K

ParentSquare is our district’s official communication platform that brings all school and district messages into one place.

With ParentSquare you can receive alerts, updates, and reminders by email, text, app notification — or however works best for you.

Do I need the App?

L
K

The app isn’t required; without downloading the app, you will still receive emails and texts and you can respond through a dashboard online, BUT the app is the easiest way to stay connected. With the app you can:

  • Get instant alerts
  • See calendar events
  • Message teachers
  • Customize your user preferences (language, notifications, and more) on-the-go

How do I sign up?

L
K

Good news — you don’t have to! ParentSquare automatically generates your account using the email and phone number you provided to your school. You may download the app (available in iOS or Android) or visit parentsquare.com/signin to get started and follow the prompts to sign up.

If you have more than one child, Parentsquare will automatically bring all your children into one account.

  1. Go to www.parentsquare.com/signin
  2. Type in the email address or phone number you use for Powerschool Parent Portal in the “Register” box, then click “Get Started”. Your email/phone number must match the contact details in the school database for this to work.
  3. Check your email to click the confirmation link provided and activate your account OR enter the verification code sent through text message if you used a phone number.
  4. Lastly, verify students listed in your account by clicking “Confirm”.

If you contact details aren’t recognized, contact your attendance@tcusd.org to get them added. After they update your information in their database, the new contact details will appear in ParentSquare after the next daily sync, and you will be able to create an account.

Note: After you are added to ParentSquare by your school, you will receive school communication even if you have not registered your account. However, you will need to register your account to participate in two-way communications and to access any confidential student-specific documents or forms.

What if I can't log in?

L
K

Just use the email or phone number you gave the school to sign in.

If you need help, please click “Forgot Password” on the sign-in screen, or log in to your (link to https://tcusd.powerschool.com/public/home.html) PowerSchool Student & Parent Portal to make sure we have the correct information on file.

Please allow 24 hours for all updates to go through our system.

L
K
  1. Log in to your main ParentSquare account.
  2. If you have unverified contact information, you will see one or more contact cards under, “Action Required: Confirm Your Account Information.” NOTE: You can also click “Confirm Contact Info” on your Account page to start the process.
  3. Confirm Email and/or Phone. A verification code will be sent to the email or phone number. Enter this verification code in ParentSquare to confirm.
  4. Confirm Child(ren).
  5. Confirm your name and school affiliations by clicking “Yes, this is me”.

How do I CHANGE my contact details?

L
K

Is your phone number wrong? Do you want to change your primary email? Is your name misspelled? Do you see information for a student who’s not yours?

Contact details in ParentSquare are managed by your school and synchronized from PowerSchool records. Once the school updates their official records, changes will automatically be reflected on your account in ParentSquare within 24 hours. Email attendance@tcusd.org for questions and changes. Please note your child’s name, School, and grade level. Thank you.

How do I switch between accounts (For Parents Who Are Also Staff)?

L
K

You can’t combine a staff account with a parent account, but you can easily switch between them. What to do:

  1. Log in to either your staff or parent account.
  2. Click your name in the top right to see your account(s).
  3. Under Switch Account, click +Add another account.
  4. Log in to your other account.
  5. Now you can switch between accounts anytime by clicking your name and choosing the one you want.

How will I receive messages?

L
K

You can choose your preferences:

  • Instant: Get notifications right away.
  • Digest: Get a single summary of all messages at 6 p.m. daily.

Messages may come by email, text, or app notification — you decide!

What kind of messages will I receive?

L
K

Classroom & Group Posts — Updates from your child’s teachers, clubs, or teams.

School-wide Messages — Newsletters and reminders from your school.

District Messages & Alerts — Important updates for all families (like emergencies, weather delays, etc.).

Direct Messages — One-to-one communication with teachers or staff.

Can I message my child's teacher directly?

L
K

Yes! ParentSquare makes it easy to send private, two-way messages with teachers, staff, or coaches. You can also choose your preferred language, and ParentSquare will automatically translate messages.

Is ParentSquare for students as well?

L
K

Yes, Junior High and High School students will use the platform called StudentSquare, which works very similarly to ParentSquare but is designed specifically for students. Just like ParentSquare, StudentSquare provides a safe, monitored space where staff can message entire classes or communicate individually with students as needed.

Why don't I see all of my children's communications in one dashboard?

L
K

ParentSquare allows you to toggle between your various children’s profiles and school communications so messages for different children don’t get confused. This means each child has their own unique dashboard with communications only relevant to their classes, teachers, etc.

To look at another child’s communications you will need to toggle to their specific school profile. Even children attending the same school will have separate profiles linked to that school.

How do I change or stop notifications?

L
K

If you are using the web browser:

  • On your home page, click your name, select “My Account,” then, “Notification Settings.”

If you are using the mobile app:

  • From your home screen, click the triple bar in the top left corner. Click on “Account,” then “Notifications.”

How do I unsubscribe? I'm not a parent!

L
K

Sometimes, non-parents get messages from a school using ParentSquare.

  • ParentSquare synchronizes with each school’s internal student information database. It contains contact details submitted by families (on forms, during enrollment, etc.)
  • Most likely, a parent or staff member made a typo, and there is incorrect contact data for a parent or student that matches an actual phone number or email belonging to someone else.
  • Only the School or district is authorized to update contact details to maintain security and protect student privacy.

What to Do:

  • To unsubscribe from text, text STOP to the number sending you the texts. You can also click to unsubscribe from emails. However, the school or district will still have you in their system and include you in urgent notifications through ParentSquare.
  • To stop receiving all notifications, please contact the school/district that is sending you messages to have them remove you contact details from their database.Â
