Letter From Superintendent Feb. 10, 2021
Hello Parents/Guardians, I hope that you and your family have been healthy and well.
President Nez has extended the Public Health Emergency Order to limit mass gatherings, to shelter in place, and remaining under curfew over the weekends. President Nez stated, “Stay home and stay safe! Although the vaccinations are being distributed, the Navajo Nation continues to advocate to have individuals staying home and practicing social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus. It’s discouraging to see many people traveling on roads and going to border towns, but there is also a majority of people who are listening to the health care experts and staying home as much as possible. Let’s think of our elders and those with underlying conditions before we go anywhere,” said President Nez.
Tuba City Regional Health Care is providing two more Coronavirus-19 vaccine blitz’s February 12 and 13 at the Tuba City High School Pavilion. Please encourage friends and family to utilize these blitz’s to prevent the spread of the virus within our community. Continue to stay close to home, wear a face mask, disinfect your spaces and hands, and social distance.
The Governing Board voted to continue distant learning until the end of third quarter. Per the most recent Public Health Emergency Order, Tuba City Unified School District has applied for and was approved a waiver of on-site learning opportunities and support services. The waiver expires February 26, 2021, if we do not receive another waiver, we will be offering free on-site learning opportunities and support services for students who need a place to go during the school day.
- Please be advised that free on-site learning opportunities and support services are not teacher-led classroom instruction. However, free on-site learning opportunities and support services will include in-person support services such as student supervision and strategic support for students in need during standard school hours, and may include teacher-led or paraprofessional support for students engaging in distance learning instruction.
- Please be advised that free on-site learning opportunities and support services may be suspended or terminated if the District or the Arizona Department of Health Services advises closing the premises for public health reasons or in the best interests of the staff and students.
Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Healthy!
Thank you,
Dr. Risha VanderWey
