A Takeaway I Wanted to Share
TCUSD Family,
Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend the day in Phoenix with other Superintendents from across Arizona. There were a lot of great conversations, but one thing really stuck with me. In education, we are busy. Really busy. There is always another meeting, email, deadline, issue, or something that needs our attention. But being busy and moving forward is not always the same thing. For me, it comes back to our North Star: our kiddos.
No matter what your role is in TCUSD, you have an impact on our students. You may be teaching them, driving their bus, serving their lunch, keeping their school safe and clean, coaching them, answering the phone when their family calls, or simply being that person who says good morning and lets them know they belong. It all matters.
That was probably my biggest takeaway yesterday. When we are all pulling in the same direction and keeping kids at the center of our decisions, some pretty special things can happen. We aren't going to get everything right every day. But we can keep showing up, keep getting better, and keep remembering why we chose this profession in the first place.
Keep the main thing the main thing. Our kiddos. Thank you for what you do every day for our students, our schools, and each other. Let's keep moving forward.
