Monday Motivation: You Never Know the Difference You Make

Good morning, TCUSD Family,
I know I can be a little long-winded sometimes (okay, maybe more than a little), but this morning I’ll try to keep it simple.
“To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.”
That quote has been on my mind because I think it captures what we do in education better than just about anything. Every one of us has the opportunity to be that person for a kid.
Sometimes it is the teacher who refuses to let a student give up. Sometimes it is the bus driver who greets them every morning. The custodian who knows their name. The secretary who makes them feel welcome. The coach who believes in them. The cafeteria worker who notices they are having a rough day. Or simply an adult who takes the time to ask, “Are you okay?”
The truth is that we may never know which moment mattered most. As we start this week, my challenge to all of us, myself included, is simple:
Be the reason one kid has a better day.
One conversation. One smile. One word of encouragement. One moment of believing in them when maybe they don’t believe in themselves yet. It might seem small to us. To that student, it might be everything.
Have a great Monday, Warriors. I appreciate what you do, and I’m proud to be doing this work alongside you. Let’s have a great week!
