Friday Reflection: Building Something That Lasts

Good morning, TCUSD FAMILY,
As we close another week, I want to begin with a simple thank you. Whether you are teaching in a classroom, supporting students, driving a bus, preparing meals, maintaining our facilities, keeping our campuses safe, coaching, or working behind the scenes, your efforts matter. Our students experience the impact of your work every day. This week, I was reading The Sixth Essential: A Playbook for School Leaders by Brian Prybil and Robert Thornell. One idea stayed with me: lasting improvement does not come from one program, one meeting, or one person. It comes from building the collective capacity of people throughout the organization to continue improving together.
That idea relates directly to where we are as a district. We are strengthening instruction, reviewing data, improving systems, listening to one another, and having important conversations about how we best serve our students and honor our community. None of this work will be completed overnight. However, each time we collaborate, follow through, support a colleague, or make a decision based on what is best for students, we build the capacity needed for lasting improvement. I continue to learn more about TCUSD each day, and I am encouraged by the talent, commitment, and heart I see across our district. We will not always agree on every detail, but we can remain united around our purpose: our kids. That shared commitment is what will move us forward.
Friday Night Lights are back! Tonight, Warrior Football opens its season against the Arete Prep Chargers in Gilbert at 7:00 p.m. Later today, Lady Warrior Volleyball travels to Ganado for its preseason scrimmage at 3:00 p.m. Safe travels to our student-athletes, coaches, families, and supporters. Compete with pride, represent Tuba City well, and know your entire TCUSD FAMILY is cheering for you. Go Warriors and Lady Warriors!
I hope you take time this weekend to rest, recharge, and recognize the difference you made for someone this week. We are building something meaningful, one student, one decision, and one day at a time. Stronger Together.
