To the TCUSD Community,
Attached is a letter regarding our Navajo Language Program and the important work ahead of us. Following last evening’s Governing Board work study, I took the thoughtful dialogue, questions, concerns, and ideas shared by those in attendance to heart. I hope this letter provides greater clarity regarding Title 10, the role of the Arizona Department of Education, and our District’s responsibility to provide a strong educational program consistent with applicable law, Board policy, and the needs of our students.
I deeply respect the importance of Navajo language and culture within our schools and community. My commitment is to listen, learn, and work collaboratively as we continue evaluating and strengthening our program. Any future recommendations will be developed thoughtfully, with student learning, cultural preservation, available resources, and applicable requirements in mind.
Thank you for your dedication to our students, families, schools, and community. By listening respectfully and working together, I believe we can build an even stronger Navajo Language Program, one that honors language and culture while supporting the academic success of every child.
Stronger Together,
Scott Nedrow
Superintendent
Tuba City Unified School District #15
