Monday Motivation: Carry What Matters

Good Monday Morning, TCUSD Family!
Last week, we focused on championship habits; the small, consistent actions that build success over time. As we begin our second week of school, we must continue those habits while remembering that none of us can juggle everything at once. A recent Juggling the Job message shared the story of the cinder block. Early blocks were solid, extremely heavy, and difficult to use. The solution was not to add more; it was to remove what was unnecessary. By creating hollow spaces, the block became lighter, easier to handle, and even more useful.
There is an important lesson in that for us. In education, we are often quick to add another task, meeting, form, program, or expectation. Before long, the work can become incredibly heavy. Moving forward does not always require us to do more. Sometimes it requires us to simplify, remove barriers, and focus our energy on what makes the greatest difference for students. As we juggle the demands of a new school year, let’s ask ourselves:
What can we simplify so we have more time and energy for what matters most?
This is not about lowering expectations. It is about protecting our priorities. Every decision should bring us closer to stronger instruction, meaningful relationships, and better outcomes for our students. Thank you for everything you did to make our first week successful. Let’s keep building; one focused, purposeful day at a time.
Kids Come First.
Stronger Together.
Stronger Together.
