Friday Reflection - Stronger Together

Good Morning, Warrior Family,
As we wrap up another week, I find myself reflecting just how much progress we've made together in such a short amount of time. Last week, I shared that we were building the foundation for something special. This week, I watched that foundation grow even stronger. Across our district, our new Warrior teachers continued learning through Beyond Textbooks training, our principals and instructional leaders invested in strengthening instruction and leadership, and employees across every department worked tirelessly behind the scenes. From our maintenance and custodial teams preparing our campuses, to transportation ensuring our buses are ready, to technology, food service, security, the business office, warehouse, and district office staff, everyone has been working toward one common goal: preparing to provide the very best experience for every student who walks through our doors.
One thing has become crystal clear to me over these first few weeks: there are no small jobs at TCUSD. Every role matters. Every person matters. Every interaction matters. Whether you're teaching in a classroom, driving a bus, preparing meals, maintaining our facilities, supporting our schools behind the scenes, or greeting families with a smile, you are making a difference in the lives of our students. As I reflected on this week, I was reminded of a quote from legendary football coach Nick Saban:
"Don't waste time worrying about what you can't control. Focus on what you can do today to get better."
That quote speaks directly to who we want to become as a district. There will always be challenges, and there will always be circumstances outside of our control. What is within our control is how we show up each day, how we support one another, how we serve our students and families, and how committed we are to getting just a little better every single day. Our district has strong roots and a proud history. Together, we are building a bright future through our shared purpose of serving every student. As One Warrior Family, we know that when we support one another, encourage one another, and stay focused on what matters most, there is no limit to what we can accomplish.
As we head into next week, we'll come together as one district during Convocation, continue preparing our classrooms and campuses, and then open our doors for each school's Open House as we prepare to welcome students back on August 3. These events are a wonderful opportunity for our families to meet our staff, reconnect with their school community, and begin the new school year with excitement and confidence. To our families and community members, thank you for your continued trust and support. We hope you'll join us at your child's school's Open House as we celebrate the beginning of another exciting school year. Together, we are building more than great schools; we are building strong relationships that help every child succeed. We look forward to partnering with you throughout the year because we know that when schools, families, and the community work together, our students thrive.
To every member of the TCUSD family, thank you for your dedication, professionalism, flexibility, and unwavering commitment to our students. The work you are doing today is laying the foundation for a successful school year and a brighter future for every child we serve. Enjoy the weekend. Spend time with those you love, get some well-deserved rest, and recharge for the exciting days ahead. I am honored to serve alongside such an incredible team and to be part of a community that believes in its children. I truly believe our best days are ahead of us, and I can't wait to welcome our Warriors back on August 3.
