Investing in Our Leaders to Better Serve Our Students
TCUSD principals, assistant principals, and instructional team leaders recently participated in an inspiring professional learning session with Dr. Anthony J. Perkins, author of Unlead to Lead Better.
The session focused on emotional intelligence and how self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and strong relationships shape effective leadership. Our leadership team engaged in meaningful discussions, completed an Emotional Quotient assessment, reviewed the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders, and collaborated on action plans to strengthen their leadership practices.
As we prepare to welcome students back, we are proud of our leaders’ commitment to continuous learning and improvement. When our leaders grow, our schools grow—and ultimately, our students succeed.
Thank you, Dr. Perkins, for investing in our team and inspiring us to lead with purpose, humility, and a commitment to serving others.

Leadership isn't about maintaining the status quo; it's about creating the conditions where every student can thrive.
Today, our instructional leaders came together for an incredible Beyond Textbooks Leadership Retreat, diving deep into what high-quality Tier 1 instruction looks like and how we can ensure every classroom provides engaging, rigorous, and meaningful learning experiences for our students.
We explored curriculum, instruction, assessment, intervention, and the systems that support continuous improvement. Most importantly, we challenged ourselves to think differently, collaborate intentionally, and lead with purpose.
The conversations were powerful. The collaboration was authentic. The commitment to our students was undeniable.
As we prepare to welcome our Warriors back, one thing is clear: our students deserve our very best every single day. By strengthening our instructional leadership, we are strengthening every classroom across the Tuba City Unified School District.
