UPDATE: September 23, 2026 – Let’s Recognize Our TCUSD Educators and Kiddos!
Good afternoon, TCUSD Team,
I want to share two great opportunities to recognize the amazing people and kiddos we have across our district. First, nominations are now open for the 14th Annual Coconino County Teacher of the Year Celebration!
This year, educators can be recognized in four categories:
• Teacher of the Year
• Rookie Teacher of the Year
• Lifetime Achievement
• Early Childhood Educator of the Year
• Rookie Teacher of the Year
• Lifetime Achievement
• Early Childhood Educator of the Year
The nomination deadline is October 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
I would love to see TCUSD well represented! Think about a colleague who goes above and beyond for our kiddos, supports the people around them, brings energy to their school, or simply represents what being a professional educator is all about. Take a few minutes and nominate them.
We also have an opportunity to recognize our students. The Arizona State Board of Education is accepting nominations for its Student of the Month program. Students can be recognized for character, achievement, school and community impact, civic engagement, and other accomplishments.
We talk a lot about celebrating success, and this is an opportunity to actually do it. There are incredible things happening across TCUSD every day. Let's make sure the educators and kiddos doing those things know that we see them and appreciate them.

I also want to make sure everyone knows about the 2027 Coconino County Teacher of the Year recognition program. Nominations are open for Teacher of the Year, Rookie Teacher of the Year, Early Childhood Educator of the Year, and the Lifetime Achievement Award. The nomination deadline is October 12, 2026.
This one is especially important to me. We have incredible people across TCUSD who quietly show up every day, pour into our kids, support their colleagues, and make our schools better. If someone comes to mind while you are reading this, don't assume somebody else will nominate them. Take the time to recognize them.

Dear TCUSD Staff, Families, and Community Members,
As we begin this new school year, I have one heartfelt question for each of you: Who deserves to be celebrated? Every day across TCUSD, our educators do far more than teach lessons. They encourage our students, celebrate their successes, support them through difficult moments, and inspire them to believe in themselves. Much of this work happens quietly, without recognition, but it deserves to be seen, valued, and celebrated.
Nominations are now open for the Coconino County:
- 14th Annual Teacher of the Year

- 6th Annual Lifetime Achievement Award
- New Early Childhood Educator of the Year
I encourage our staff, families, students, and community members to think about an educator who has made a meaningful difference and take a few minutes to nominate them. A nomination sends a powerful message: “We see you. We value you. The difference you make matters.” We have so many incredible educators throughout TCUSD who pour their hearts into serving our students. Let’s make sure their dedication and impact are recognized beyond the walls of their classrooms. The nomination deadline is Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
