Corileen Phillips and Geoffrey Begaye


Corileen Phillips

Corileen Phillips is a Third Grade Teacher at the Tuba City Elementary School. She was nominated by 3 of her colleagues. Here is what they had to share. Royd Lee states, “Her work speaks for itself, her students are happy and motivated to see her come to work everyday. Ms. Phillips goes beyond the call of duty for her students.” Another colleague, Vanessa Begay stated, “She displays great talents in technical applications which are required when implementing instructional technologies and software application such as Schoology. She has provided multiple mentoring sessions in order to support teachers with this technical skill. With her positive attitude, she is able to create a school environment where all teachers and students feel valued. Lastly, Felicite Joe added, “Corileen is a shining example of excellence in education, leadership in educations, and highly effective mentorship.”


Geoffrey Begaye

Geoffrey Begaye is an Instructional Assistant at the Tuba City Elementary School. He was nominated by Gabrielle Hemstreet. She stated, “Geoff is always willing to explain and thoroughly walk you through solutions for any problem you bring to him. When Geoff walks into a classroom, students are ecstatic. They enjoy is comedic personality, just as much as the staff. He demonstrates professionalism and organization on a daily basis by ensuring all tasks are completed. Geoff is always willing to work or learn something new and everyone knows they can count on him for just about anything. Geoff helps in the morning at the crosswalk in front of the school. He has great patience and kindness with the community by calmly directing traffic during the hectic drop-off time in the morning.

Corileen and Geoffrey both received a Certificate of Appreciation and a plush Warrior blanket that was provided by TCUSD Human Resources. Congratulations to Corileen and Geoffrey!!
