REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Curriculum Director

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 months

JOB GOAL: To provide the most appropriate and unique education for gifted students allowing each to reach his or her fullest potential while reaching self acceptance and high self esteem.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates testing and evaluation of students in the Gifted and Talented Program.
  2. Teaches students identified as gifted in grades K-6. Develops cognitive abilities and fosters creativity and productivity among students. Provides all students with unique and appropriate studies and activities. Guides the student in developing a set of independent projects and aids them in research and product design.
  3. Evaluates student progress in all areas and makes recommendations to the regular classroom teacher as to the most appropriate program for the student.
  4. Coordinates K-12 program for gifted and talented programs and acts as a liaison between the various programs.
  5. Serves as a spokesperson and advocate for the gifted child and gifted education.
  6. Serves as a resource person and consultant in the area of gifted education.
  7. Provides in-service training or information in the identification of gifted children to all classroom teachers and in appropriate and unique instructional program for the gifted/accelerated classroom teachers.
  8. Works with parents of identified gifted children in development of the child’s education plan.
  9. Works with administrators to plan for improvements in the gifted education programs.
  10. Recommends psychological testing or counseling for gifted/talented students as needed.
  11. Develops a pool of mentors and community resources to assist with the education of gifted students.
  12. Complete Arizona State reporting requirements.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.

  • Discipline: classroom control is one of the prime factors of teaching, and the teacher is responsible for maintaining a condition in the classroom to promote the learning situation.

Job Goal

Your Bachelor of Science or Arts degree and valid Arizona teaching certificate will qualify you to become an effective and responsible educator of TCUSD #15 students. You will report to the Principal or designee for a period of 9 months. Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Pursue professional study in the teaching field; keep abreast of conditions and progress.
  • Work for continuous improvement of instruction in his/her classes.
  • Maintain a systematic plan for organization and presentation of daily teaching assignments.  a) Lesson plans and outlines are necessary to assure full use of available materials, both from text and supplementary sources.  b) Lesson plans must be available at all times for use by substitutes and for reference by other teachers, department heads and administrators.  c) Assure student utilization of prescribed textbooks.
  • Work with department heads and administration in organizing and improving courses of study and curriculum.
  • Keep complete and accurate records of student grades and attendance.  a) Roll book must be according to the specified form since it is subject to audit for ADM and is the final check for pupil grades and attendance.  These permanent record books will be checked periodically by administrators. b) Seating charts in all classes and special duty assignments must be kept in class book for use by substitutes.
  • Give prompt careful attention to routine classroom matters. a) Health of students.  b) Care of furniture.  c) Absence slips and attendance matters.  d) Lighting and ventilation.  e) Reports as required. f) Individual differences of pupils.
  • Discipline: classroom control is one of the prime factors of teaching, and the teacher is responsible for maintaining a condition in the classroom to promote the learning situation.
  • Counsel students and contact the home when necessary.
  • Help supervise the conduct and welfare of all students on the school premises or at school functions.
  • Care for and help protect school property.
  • Help stimulate and support student activities.
  • Work through proper channels.
  • Keep assigned students under direct supervision.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Job Goal

Qualifications

Job Goal

To assist in providing health services to students and staff in accordance with District policy under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Practice Nurse or Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of or equivalent combination of education and experience leading to the passage of the medical assistant examination administered by the American Association of Medical Assistants or the American Medical Technologist.
  • At least 6 months experience within the last 2 years as a Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Possess a current Basic Life Support Provider training verification.
  • Preferred - Advance Life Support training participation certification within the last 2 years.
  • Preferred - Bilingual in Navajo/Hopi and English.
  • Possess a valid Arizona Driver's licence.

Reports to: Principal and the designated school nurse.

Term of Employment:  9 or 10 months; 8AM - 4:30pm with 30 minute unpaid lunch.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Perform various front office functions such as filing, organizing, and maintaining student health records, answering phones and other general office duties.  Administer first aid.
  • Take medical histories and record vital signs.
  • Assist with vision and hearing screening.
  • Communicate observations and concerns regarding a student's condition to supervisor.
  • Prepare students for examination by a Physician or School Nurse.
  • Assist the physician and school nurse during the examination.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
  • Instruct patients about medication and special diets.
  • Explain treatment procedures to student patients and parents.
  • Prepare and administer medications under the supervision and direction of the school nurse.
  • Requisition and maintain School Nurse;s supplies and equipment.
  • Dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instruments.
  • Keep office, waiting, and examination rooms neat and clean.
  • Maintain a positive and supportive environment.
  • Carry out recurring assignments but secure authorization for deviations that are technically within the scope of work for a certified medical assistant.
  • Participate in in-service training.
  • May perform the following after completion of competency based orientation: Venous puncture for drawing blood; Glucose test; Application of soft orthopedic devices; utilize small volume nebulizer treatment; and removal of sutures and change dressings.
